I'm extremely interested in JL. I plan on attending an orientation next month. I was concerned about the possible resistance to diversity. However, after seeing this thread and speaking to sorors that are members, I'm feeling pretty good about it.

Junior League
Go for it Soror, I'm a member here in Atlanta and I love it! I thought the same thing at first with regards to diversity, but it's proven to be a wonderful experience.

Definitely go Soror. I love the League. I felt a little out of place at first because you could count the number of black members on one hand. But I told myself that I'd better get used to that going into the legal field. The ladies were all very outgoing and welcoming. I realized that I had alot more in common with "them" than I'd known.
They will love the fact that you are in a sorority, lol.

The next class in my area is in January of 2007...the fall course deadline was June 30th...seems like a great organization...committed to volunteerism (if thats a legitimate word).

Are you a Law Student? I start Law School in September [5th to be exact] and there are VERY few Blacks, less than 10%, but I guess that's the "price you pay" for Tier 1. I didn't feel out of place at all inthe League. I was just excited to be in yet another organization so firmly committed to service. But then again, I guess I"m used to it, I was the only Black girl in my high school class.
