My dad knows a sorority woman (not sure if she's in a sorority from usc though). I have never met her in my life, though. If she could write me a letter, what would the difference between this "personal contact" and a woman from the APH be?

On my sorority's rec form (don't know about others), we can check a box saying we know the PNM or her family personally. I would think it would give a little more weight to the rec since she knows your dad, especially if she's an involved alumna.

Oh okay that makes sense. Thank you for your advice I'll definitely try to find as many personal contacts as possible!

No! Go to the APH now. It may take a little time for the APH to process your forms and distribute them to member groups. And some APHs are not taking applications after June 1.
