I don't want to go to work today. There is nothing to do... and the pay sucks. I'll sit there for hours doing nothing at all.

HAHAHAHA

So, at work where there is nothing to do, and the pay sucks, recs are DEFINITELY neccessary.

You're going to be at a serious disavantage, just because most of the other PNMs will have them.

Ok, I am coming into this post late, but I would think recs would be needed at a school like DePauw simply for the mere fact that two of the six NPC chapters have their Alpha chapters there (Kappa Alpha Theta and Alpha Chi Omega). However, someone from DePauw might have more insight.

I am glad I checked this though, I am writing a rec for someone going to LSU. I told her it is probably a good idea to get recs for every sorority there!

Very few of the women at DePauw get recs. It's a small campus and every girl I know who has been Greek (40+) there did NOT have a rec. Pretty much every girl who maximizes her options will get a bid.

FYI, someone asked a few pages back if recs are required at CSU schools. I can tell you for sure that at CSULB (or LBSU whichever you prefer to call it) recs are not required at all. As a matter of fact I think most chapters wouldn't even know what to do with them . In the years since I was initiated(wow, long ago now) and helping with recruitment as an alumna(from 94-08) I never once saw a rec...and that was a lot of years.

According to this thread, recs are good to have at UNT but not to the extent of other Texas schools.

This thread about Michigan says that it's great if you can get them (esp. if you are an upperclassman) but not a must.

P.S. the part in your sig that says "flawness is not a word" makes me laugh EVERY TIME I see it

I think this post is especially helpful given your situation, and even address having a live in commitment.

Thanks, I try. I will say though, I know you mentioned being married at some point, and UM is a school with a very traditional Greek scene (mostly 18-22 non-marrieds) large houses, and rather strict live-in requirements. So that is something to think about.
