The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family)

Did anyone watch this last night? I thought it looked kind of interesting (and I thought - hey, ABC Family has "Greek" so maybe I'll like this show too), but I was pretty shocked about how EVERYTHING in the show revolved around sex. Please tell me this is an over-exaggeration of current-day high school life - because I do not remember high school like that.

UM, I was completely SHOCKED when I watched this show last night. And on ABC Fam!
I thought the show was kinda lame overall though.

Yea, I thought it was going to be better but it was rather lame and contrived. I felt like I could predict half the conversation before they said it.
I didn't like how much they revolved around the whole sex and "I'm a Christian" theme...it was just too much!

As soon as the previews announced, "from the creators of 7th Heaven", I knew to stay far, far away from this show!

it looked lame from the beginning. and i honestly dont think that Molly Ringwald got that old to play a mom. maybe someone's aunt or older sister, but she doesnt scream Mom to me.
and i didnt realize that it was a series versus a made-for-TV movie. i dont wanna watch some girl get pregnant and learn life lessons before her time. i would much rather see a series about some girl contracting some STI and dealing with it than a baby. not to make light of the epidemic, but teens deal with getting pregnant all the time. i wanna see a girl fall from the social ladder with a fugly herpes sore on her lip.

maybe thats not the kind of family ABC is going for though. sigh.

ETA: and hey, i liked 7th Heaven!

I've watched the first two episodes and I'm undecided on how I feel. Of all the sexually active people I knew in high school, I never once heard or participated in a conversation like anything on the show. And the creepy stalker who LOVES "his Amy" after one school dance? I know high schoolers say I love you after a few weeks sometime, but come on, thats over the top.

I'll have to catch it next time.
BTW, Molly Ringwald did play Molly's mom in the Molly movie a couple of years ago.

Okay, I admit that it's a guilty pleasure of mine. It's actually the closest thing to network television that I watch (except the Who Do You Think You Are? show, which just started).
There was a wedding on the show tonight, and the girl/woman who plays Madison, Renee Olstead sang at the wedding. My word, does she have a voice! This isn't the exact clip from the show but she's been singing like this since she was 15: Someone To Watch Over Me .

Here's one from when she WAS 15: What a Wonderful World . I think I've become a fan!

The show is taped at my high school. Love that the lettermen's jackets have the G for Grant and they did not change the awful colors--- brown and orange.
