That would be because they weren't grunge. They just looked kind of grungy. They're a fairly typical story: existing band has a brief national bigness, gets lumped in with stuff they really have nothing to do with, and then when that music forms loses favor, they suffer. But they can probably pull a full house in Minneapolis (their hometown) and do decently in a lot of other places.

Yeah but that's seatle music, though. Even the punk rock kids wear Jimi Hendrix buttons. There wasn't really anything called "grunge" until some ad-guy said there was. It was just music, it wasn't like the same people at Soul Asylum show wouldn't be at the Nirvana or Sreaming Trees show.
