How many Trick-or-Treaters did you have?

I was surprised that we had some this year, last year we didn't have any. We didn't have any candy, so we didn't answer the door, and most kids got the picture after ringing the doorbell once.

There was a group of kids that rang it for about 10-15 minutes though. They were older kids (probably tweens and there was a definite lack of parents with them) and they rang it so much that I was reaching into the fridge to egg them from the second floor when they stopped.

I would have gone downstairs and yelled at them but I figured why bother when their parents aren't there. One ring at an undecorated and mostly dark apartment building + wait + no answer = no candy.

ETA: The trick-or-treating for canned food was an excellent idea.

We did that one year in college, as a chapter. We donated the canned goods (and Ramen noodles) to the local food bank.
