If you do chose the football option, please be smarter than we were when my honors fraternity decided to give it a try... We all showed up at the stadium to play. Except no one thought to bring a ball. One of the Brothers who basically lived across the street had a rugby ball so he ran home & got it. So there we were, at like 10pm, middle of winter, playing football, with a white rugby ball, trudging through a foot or so of white snow on the ground... But we had a great time none-the-less
Our Brotherhood Chair sent out an email a little while ago with ideas... Some you didn't mention were going to an amusement park. One of the local ones here does Fright Nights for Halloween, so a haunted house type thing could be fun. Golf, hiking and camping were also on the list. Can't recall which chapter, but I know I got a facebook invite to go tubing down the Mississippi (I think) river with some chapter... Though the most popular choice so far has been to build something - like a bar for the house... Though my carpentry skills leave much (aka everything) to be desired, so I'll volunteer to test the bar, once the other guys have built it
