Sometimes there's rudeness sure, but I think it's far more likely to be the result of someone not knowing how to handle something well or being exhausted rather than deliberate behavior from the members of the GLO side.
Even if you aren't crazy about your guest, it would be rare not to care how you acted during a party. The "philanthropy isn't all we do" thing seems really bad.
