I'm officially in the "it's not a beer" camp for Smirnoff Ice...while tasty (in that I'm in high school or my first year of college way), it's doesn't have the downright goodness that an actual beer has. I had one at a friends BBQ a while back, and it just wasn't all that good, too sweet really.

DrPhil, have you ever tried Framboise? It's a raspberry Belgian beer. Quite yummy, even to those who don't have a taste for beer.

And now back to your regularly scheduled on-going commentary....

I have not. Thanks for the suggestion. I will report my findings.

(If it tastes good, is it counted as beer? You know how snobby beer lovers can be.)

Haha...it definitely can be counted as beer.

For an idea on the number of varieties of beer out there, take a look at this: www.beeradvocate.com . There are beers containing fruits, chocolate, etc. I won't disagree that there are beer snobs out there though, as I can be one of them sometimes.

Framboise would be a good start. You may also want to try something like Harpoon Rasberry Hefeweizen (if it's available in your area) or Sam Adams Cherry Wheat. Chocolate stouts could also be an option - some of them taste a lot like chocolate milk.
