Is that what he was doing?
If only the public statements of every POTUS were so easily dismissed as 1st Amendment right. There goes that Obama effect again.

Ooooohh noo......don't go there, what's good for one isn't good for anyone else.
Obama did what few POTUS' (es?, i,?) do, (and also what I hate) he said something, realized what he said and then corrected it. (the exception being is that he has so far fixed some of his gaffes faster than some others)
Why? Because like anyone else, he exercised his right to say what he wanted, but then realized the consequences and repercussion of what he did and corrected himself.
What I said earlier wasn't to give him a free pass to what he said, just for you to realize that he did what most people won't do, he corrected what could be seen as a mistake...thought personally he should have stuck with it and let it stand...but...and this goes for those who are in the public eye, he chose to fix it so so to not hurt his standing.

And I want Obama to shut up more often than not. The POTUS isn't just like everyone else. Making public statements in front of reporters and cameras is not like what most of us do everyday. I, and a lot of people, don't know why he publicly spoke on it, particularly in the manner that he did, in the first place.
He will keep learning that an opinionated PERSON isn't the exact same as an opinionated POTUS. I'm already tired of his need to cover his words when he could've shut up in the first place, just like others were tired of the supposed "rambling idiot" Presidents before him.

I think you missed what I was saying.
He made a statement that others would hear. We don't get in front of cameras but we are in front of our peers and we measure what we say TO our peers because we know the consequences of what saying the wrong things are.
This is not to dispute whether he was right or wrong in his statement or give him a pass but simply to show you, that he truly is like the next person that sometimes speaks too soon.
At work we just simply say that our boss is an asshole or our boss can't say that XYZ person working under him is lazy and inept out loud without expecting that possibly some kind of reprisal from those at whom the statements were directed at.
Same thing here. JUST like anyone else, Obama, made a statement.
Realized what he said and in front of whom he said it to and ran back to clean it up because he realized that if certain people heard what he said he would be JUDGED for it.
Just like some people would do.
if you have nothing nice to say, wait until you alone and say.
Or...and I have said this before (not my original quote BTW) about many of the wonderful statements and apologies that have fallen from the mouths of those that are exposed to the public who really should have thought before they misspoke.
"Don't say anything now that you know you will have to apologize for later."

I know that you don't believe in having emotions about usernames, but sometimes, I love you.
And then you talk about french fries and I'm all confused.

Exactly.
You will find that when I think people insist on making a random leap or are driving home a point that is an overstatement of the obvious, I would rather respond with "jumping ponies with puppy power" than bore myself in a serious discussion.
