Right, so she probably only faced these charges because she was governor, but she's barred from raising funds as governor to pay them off. It seems kind of crappy, and I think the investigator actually recommend the legislature use public funds to pay off the debt.

But when a politician gets into some kind of trouble...there is always some kind of cover-up or conspiracy. What's wrong with the truth these days?

What cover up or conspiracy do you see here with Palin?

Wait until she's officially out of office....whomever is still in her camp will say anything to prove she's innocent of the charges against her.

What? This doesn't make any sense - what has "her camp" said?

What's the cover-up? It appears the trust was constructed in plain sight.

In politics, things aren't always what they seem. But,in regard to her chances for the presidency or vice-presidency in 2012...she doesn't stand a chance, she shouldn't even waste her time.

So you were addressing the possibility of future behavior?

It just seemed weird because this issue didn't seem to be about cover-ups and conspiracy theories.

Look at Bush and Cheney. After they got out of the White House...lots of things came out about them. So I wouldn't be surprised if some kind of scandal surfaces about her.

I wouldn't say that lots of things came out about them. I think it would be more accurate to say that more information arose about things that the public was already aware of, or that the public had some inkling had occurred. Unless I'm forgetting something, I don't think there have been any surprise bombshells about either (except for maybe the talk about Cheney and pushing for assassinations).

I disagree. I honestly can't think of a single thing that came out after they left office that wasn't discussed before they left office. What are you talking about? You can find waterboarding articles going back years, I think, and certainly before the 2008 election.

Again, what are you talking about?

Not to mention that it wasn't covered up or involved in a conspiracy theory.

ETA: When did Andrew Sullivan start talking about waterboarding? I thought it was back when I was still reading him, which would make it a long time ago. EATA: well it looks like it was 2005/2006. I don't know if that's really that long, but it's way pre-leaving office for B and C.
