We do something similar. We have 3 weeks, with three different buddies, up until we have big/little reveal!

Something that my buddies did with me were take me out for ice cream, invite me over to the house to watch movies, take me out to dinner with other buddy groups (this one was great to meet not only other sisters, but also other girls in my pledge class), and go out for coffee. All of these are really low key events, which makes everyone feel more at ease and comfortable.

As far as gifts, we're really big about making our gifts for these weeks, although some girls buy their buddy gifts. Pencils and paper, painted clipboards, notebooks, flip-flops, etc. Anything is a good gift, it just shows the new member you care. We usually have themed gifts that go with our symbols (our colors, our motto, etc) and without revealing too much you can always say somthing like "This _______ reminds all of us in XYZ to be/do _________."

Hope some of this helps!

Some chapters have designated gifts (i.e. first day pens & pencils, second day t shirt etc). Whether you do that or not, be sure to set a monetary limit so no one gets in over their heads or tries to "compete" by giving pricier gifts.
