A yard is generally 3 feet. Or 36 inches, whichever comes first.
Just kidding.
A yard of beer is a three foot deep glass of beer, believe it or not. It is generally about as wide as a normal glass at the top and tapers as it goes toward the base. I don't know how many ounces is in it. It's pretty interesting trying to drink from that kind of container -- especially when it's getting empty. You tip it very carefully, and the beer always tries to all come out at once. If you're not careful, you end up wearing more beer than you drink.
A half a yard is a half of a yard. Duh!
