Many sisters probably do not know this (unless they read the last Aglaia), but Phi Mu went from our beloved Imagine. Believe. Achieve. to "Vibrant". At least it makes more sense now that they put it into context, but the first time I heard it I wanted to weep.

I have to admit - I read "Vibrant" wrong the first time. . I liked Imagine. Believe. Achieve.

These two had long since been my favorite sorority taglines

I like verbs rather than adjectives for taglines.

Sigma Kappa
Sigma Kappa is unveiling a whole new identity this summer at our Collegiate Officers Training School. So, currently, our tagline is "Bringing Sisterhood to Life," but it won't be for long! I participated in one of the online surveys they conducted, "beta testing" two different taglines. I can say I LOVED one of them and was only mildly lukewarm about the other- I guess I'll have to wait until July to see if my favorite made the cut (or they could have gone a whole new direction, too!).
Open Motto: One Heart, One Way
Jewel: Pearl
Colors: Lavender and Maroon
Mascot: Dove and Heart
Flower: Wild Purple Violet (changed last year at Convention from simply Violet- you can't imagine the racous this caused- seriously!)

Ugh... Hurl. Imagine Believe Achieve was bad enough. Vibrant just isn't. Can't we just stick with Love, Honor, Truth? I mean, it's worked for almost a century; why try to change it?

Amen, sister. I got to proof-read an article for the upcoming issue of our magazine, and the whole. thing. read. like. a. 14-year-old's. term. paper. Full of one-word "sentences" and actual sentences that began with the word "and." I got over the "and" part quickly enough because they want it to sound conversational, but the whole thing just read like one, huge schmaltzburger, and it was actually rather painful.
I didn't see it for Phi Mu, so here goes...
Open Motto: Les Soeurs Fideles (French for "The Faithful Sisters")
Tagline: Vibrant. (I think this is just about the stupidest tagline ever, and we should just use our ideals of "Love, Honor, Truth" as our tagline.)
Flower: Rose carnation (sometimes called the "enchantress carnation," though ours is technically not that variety)
Jewel: None
Color: Rose and White
Official Mascot: The lion, named Sir Fidel (after our open motto)
Other Symbols: The barbed quatrefoil, a hand holding a heart, three stars
