LMAO that dance sequence! this show looks hilarious. im going to have to rewatch online, i just turned it.
and look for my friend's name at the end of the credits - i dont know what he did on the show, but Garrett Greer, i went to school with him. Good times.
ETA: apparently, is the assistant to the executive producer, according the IMDB.

I just watched the pilot, but I guess the first episode isn't available online yet. Boo! Oh well...it just aired today. Hehe

I'm conflicted - I really want to like this show, but the stock characters are getting to me. Really? The jock who wants to express himself in music - hmmmm, HSM. The beautiful nerdish girl who is uber-talented? The megamanical "win at any cost" sports coach? Manipulative cheerleader? I just feel I've seen it all before. It feels like "High School Musical" meets "Mean Girls" meets "Fame". I'm hanging in there - maybe things will get better. I LOVE the musical numbers, of course.

There's no question that they've used all the stock characters. All the reviews I saw back when the pilot aired noted as much, but said that it worked. One said something along the lines of cliche being essential to satire. I imagine that as the characters develop, they'll move beyond the stereotypes -- but not too far, I hope.

Hmmm...did anyone see American Pie?
It's like they lifted that one section out with Ostreicher and made a show based on that entire plot point.

and then throw in "Not Another Teen Movie." The show can't be too out-the-box with the characters - it IS broadcast TV and all.
im going to give it a second chance.

This was my first thought...American Pie meets High School Musical.
So far so good, but the Glee coach's wife is obnoxious as hell.

LOVED that they were singing Gold Digger and going to clips of her measuring the "baby daughter or gay son's" bedroom! LOL
Weird to me seeing his wife - she plays a teenager's mom on Friday Night Lights AND Heroes, so she just seems old to me. (and a total biatch hysterical pregnancy?? - "We're having a boy!"
It is filled with cliche stereotypical characters, but that's what makes it funny IMO, skewering the cliches.
That Cheerio coach is hilarious!! I loved her in "Best of Show" she's a good comedic actress.
I love the principal too, he was really rocking out to "Push It"!!

The actress playing the wife is about 38, the actor playing her husband is turning 31 soon. So there is a bit of an age difference there.
Even more interesting, is that the actor playing Finn is 27, the actresses playing Quinn and Rachel are 23.
Just goes to show you how age isn't necessarily a huge factor in casting. If you "fit the part", your age may not matter. Many actors are hired "18+ TPY", which means 18 and older "to play younger", and adult actors (not actors in adult films) can play older, their age, or younger. There are a lot of rules and laws about hiring and paying child actors, from the number of hours per day they can work, to where their paycheck goes (special bank account has to be set up), to having to have parents on set, to providing schooling.
If you remember, most of the actors in the film "Grease" were well into their 20s, and Stockard Channing was around 33 when she shot the film.

I'm totally loving this show! The biggest thing for me is that I was a "choir nerd" in high school so the musical numbers are frickin' awesome!!!!!
I'm a total dork and went on Itunes and downloaded "I can't fight this feeling", "don't stop believing" and "take a bow". LOL.
This show rocks!!!!
on a side note one of the reviews on Itunes said "Finally a show as awesome as Buffy the Vampire Slayer". god I miss Buffy, but this is a nice replacement (6 years later).

Has anyone seen the movie Election?
I finally had to IMDB to see if there are any common writers/creators with Glee (from what I see, there's not). The series reminds me a lot of the movie although I'm not totally sure why. Something about the writing and sense of sarcasm & satire. I doubt Glee will take the stock characters and let them spiral so controversially as in Election, but I keep waiting for them to.

Great movie. It's definitely one of those that I could watch over and over.
