I'm sorry about your disappointment. Once I was on the other side of Rush at IU (as an active member), the first thing that went through my mind was "How the heck did I get in HERE?"--Why? Because there were so many amazing girls that came through the doors of the house that got cut each round. Way way more great girls than spots for them. I know its hard not to take it personally. And it can be so disheartening to get your hopes up and then to feel that they've been dashed.
If you made it back to 6-party, trust me, there are women in those houses that are disappointed that you weren't invited back to their house, too.
My house didn't do informal rush, so I don't have any experience with that, but I do remember my freshman year a few sophomores on my dorm floor that went through informal recruitment in the Fall.
I hope that you choose to stick it through Pref.--maybe you will feel differently after tonight.
