That was a really cute story! I think it's always important for pnm's to give the chapter they were bidded by at least a few weeks to see if it's for them.
I got my first choice, but a lot of my pledge sisters had preffed other houses as thier first choice but are so glad they decided to stay in Alpha Phi.

I am SO glad to see this story up here...it's quite a tribute to giving your "second choice" a chance before deciding you can't be happy there. I hope other girls going through recruitment read this thread and learn from it!

What a great story, Smile Awhile. This thread should be a must-read for any lurkers who are considering Greek life- second place doesn't automatically mean "ugh." I'm so happy you found your home!
My first Resident Advisor in our dorms, in fact the first sorority member I got to know well, was an Alpha Chi, so your sisterhood holds a little spot in my heart.

I am sure you are starting to get ready for Fall Recruitment. Won't you please keep us updated? I think it's great how you are taking an active role in helping your chapter. Good luck and keep us updated

I'll try- I'd love to do a story from the other side of recruitment, ala Silverpearls. However, I do worry about my anonymity and the anonymity of my campus. Since we are a smaller campus, the odds of a PNM on Greekchat attending my school are slim, but present nonetheless. I'm currently thinking I'll do a story once recruitment passes, but that could change. I'll be sure to update this once that time comes.
I will say this though: Our VP Recruitment is AMAZING. While that position is one that I could never hold, she does it with finesse. She has already laid out her plans for each round, and I have complete and utter faith that it will be a rousing success.

Just a quick update-
I've just gone through my first formal recruitment! I am SO PROUD to say that we took 27 new girls- just one under quota! My group did match 28 women (quota), but one young lady decided to decline her bid. We haven't matched to quota in at least 4 years, so we are so excited!
The best news, EVER- WE MADE CHAPTER TOTAL. We haven't been at that number in many, many years. Though we are still slightly smaller than other groups, it is far less noticeable.
The best part of this pledge class? They all WANT to be Alpha Chis. They are a gorgeous, diverse group of lovely young ladies who are excited to wear our letters. I couldn't be more excited for them, and for my chapter.

Aww, this thread is the reason I signed up for GC... because I forgot it wasn't live and tried to persuade Smile Awhile to give Alpha Chi a chance, when in reality she had probably already been initiated LOL.
