The issue is our International HQ of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has instructed our membership as to appropriate use of our symbols, badges and crest, including mottos, etc. So it is important at least from my Sorority's stance that as members we comply to the International goals. Our documentary items are trademarked and our vendors have to pay licensing fees to sell appropriate items.
I also think that some members think that items can be sold anywhere, either by donation bags, or by eBay... As far as clothing, SOME items I would really care about--like seeing my linesisters' jackets--especially these days. But, if I saw an old man wearing one of my hats, I really would care less.
And I have seen all kinds of people wearing my Sorority's paraphernalia with the trademark insignias knowing they are definitely not members--in fact, they look homeless... And what do I do... Walk on by... What can you do? Let it go...
Because really, my Sorority's ideals, concepts and victory's heights are in my heart and I stand as an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. regardless of where I am... So, Good! If an old homeless transgendered man wears my stuff, maybe it's my service to the community... LOL...

Thanks. That's kind of what I was trying to say.
What can I do about this that's not going to make me look like a complete petty fool? Nothing.

The other issue is that there have been cases of young women who have NEVER undergone a membership process that somehow get all the paraphernalia of YFGLO, and start sporting the gear--thinking that makes them a member.
There are suppose to be "stopgaps" in place, but nothing is "failsafe"... It would be one thing if they came to all the community service activities and an occasional parties--it's another like what I have seen splayed across the internet at all the parties and say on behalf of my Sorority...
I do not know how to handle that lunacy. Good thing that's a young person's game and I am well beyond that, that hunting down for it...
