Who was the only sitting president not nominated by his party to run for a
2nd term?

I don't think that qualifies, though, because he wasn't actively seeking the nomination. He was propping up Taft as his successor by that point.
ETA: I think it was Chester Arthur - is that correct?

Not to be picky, but I looked it up, and it appears he was a sitting president who kept himself in the running for the nomination, but was not nominated for a second term.
