I went and saw the movie and really liked it and am now tempted to read the books. I have to admit, though, that I read the summaries of all 4 books on wikipedia and it seems like the plots get more and more ludicrous as the series goes on... not sure I can handle that.
But I have a huge embarrassing crush on Robert Pattinson.

Yeah they do, especially the 4th book. But they just suck you in, and you don't really care how ludicrous it all sounds.

I read the first two books in two days. I didn't understand how a story about vampires could hold my interest so much, but it totally has. Last night I went to Borders and bought Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. epchick, you're right they do totally suck you in. I have no idea what it is. I also saw the movie this weekend and really liked it. breathesgelatin, I have an embarrassing crush on Robert Pattinson now too.
ETA: on a side note, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only non-teen who loves this story. I was getting pretty sure I had mentally reverted back to my teen years.

The plots do get more absurd, but for some reason I still got totally enveloped in them! The books provide such an easy, entertaining read & they are totally my guilty pleasure books. I was fascinated from start to finish, even during the most absurd plot lines that I totally hated.

I agree about the absurd plot lines. Then again, the whole concept of a teenage girl finding her soul mate in a vampire is pretty absurd to begin with.

Has Stephanie Meyers written any other books?
Though she might me done with the Edward/Bella storyline, I would love to read more of her writings.
I would love a story about Caralise......He is one my favorite characters.

The other one she has out is "The Host" - has nothing to do with the Twilight characters (that I know of, that is - need to add that to my wish list still )
Saw the movie last Wednesday with a friend (she hadn't read the books) - she's thinking about trying them now, though I'm really glad my sister got me hooked on the series! (And I'm another "non-teen" who enjoyed them, along with many others here, I'm sure )
