I got food poisoning my first time at Waffle House and never went back. People in the south act like it's the greatest thing ever, but I flat out refuse to fight that demon again.

Speaking of the Waffle House, I only ate there once, but I thought it was like any other breakfast place. I thought they served most breakfast foods. I asked for pancakes but they didn't serve pancakes. I was surprised because there are pancake places that serve waffles.
I thought the food was good though.

You apparently don't have any GOOD breakfast places nearby.

Where are there GOOD breakfast places? Even the locally owned one is still only for when you are drunk/hung over and then you weigh carefully all other options even then

ALL breakfast places are for when you're drunk or hung over, IMO. And that's only when there's not chinese around!

Everything around here closes except for IHOP. And it's the only thing I can eat when I'm the slightest bit intoxicated. So amazing. They like to screw up our food late at night, though.

I've never had a problem with Waffle House, but I'm fairly certain that Hell will freeze over before I step foot into a Denny's again!
As for my local Wendy's, I'm convinced they hire former prison guards as "servers". They always mess up the order, but you don't dare criticize!

There are good breakfast places almost everywhere. In my current town, there's a diner downtown that makes excellent hash browns. When I was living in Boston, Zaftig's was the best, and Stephanie's was pretty close.

Their potato pancakes are so good that they should be illegal. I always would get the Eggs Benedict, where they put them on top of the potato pancakes instead of English Muffins. The wait is always about 45 minutes, especially on a Saturday or Sunday morning, but it's so worth it.
I REALLY miss living in Brookline...

None of them are good down here. Well, "good" is subjected, but if I want a real breakfast, I'll make it myself.
3rd Street Diner and 4th Street Cafe are "good" in this regard, for when you need something on your stomach, and breakfast is the only thing that seems feasible.
But Deny's, Waffle House, IHOP, etc. are not good. And most of the greasy spoons/diner type places have been...good if I were drunk, not at all sober. Just my two cents.

As I said in my earlier post, it's nasty. And the one I went to was fairly new! It was greasy and flavorless, and just un-special. In general, I don't eat at chain restaurants very often. In case you're wondering, I also hate Applebee's.
I guess I'm spoiled living in a city with a lot of great restaurants. My bf and I love to go out for brunch on the weekends. There are hardly any IHOPs left in the Seattle area, and I'm not talking about Denny's either. I'm talking about REAL, independently operated restaurants...French restaurants are some of our favorites, but for traditional American brunch, this is my fav: http://www.brownbagcafes.com/menu/breakfast.jpg. And local restaurant Salty's is legendary for brunch: http://www.saltys.com/food_wine/best_brunch.asp. I swear my bf's parents come all the way from Chicago to visit us just for brunch at Salty's.

Wow. The Waffle house I go to isn't greasy at all. I don't like the environment, because the people there are kind of gross looking (I always get my food to go) but the food is good. I agree with you about Applebees and Denny's. I don't like Applebees' food and Denny's just has a really gross atmosphere.

Do you guys like buffet foods? I only eat the salads from those kinds of places.
