Wow, that is unbelievable. I can't afford to rescue it, but I sent a note to our Executive Offices just in case they can spring for it.

Does your HQ have any of your original "H" badges?

I am just wondering if it is even legal to be selling old badges on ebay. I thought I signed something that said if I didn't pass my badge onto a DG then I would have it returned to the sorority, or maybe it just really upsets me that this is one of the rare early badges and is a part of DG history. Does anyone have any thoughts on it?

The badge is beautiful! I wish a DG had picked it up. Since I'm nosy, I wanted to see if the person had gotten any SK bages. I stopped looking pretty quickly, since it appeared to be a collector who was purchasing anything and everything pin related and can probably guess he/she has almost everyone's pin by now. (I don't know how a person has that much money sitting around that they can pay thousands of dollars worth of pins in a few days. I wish I had that problem!) Just looking at a few, I saw pins, a ritual book (!), history of org book, etc... The strangest thing was the Comptroller of Maryland was auctioning off a bunch of pins that this person also picked up. How did they get involved in that!?

They may have been abandoned in safe deposit boxes.
Does DG have a badge saving group?

I don't really think it's necessary for "modern" badges. But this one was obviously historically significant, just because of its age and its size. You have to wonder where it came from, who had it, why the family let it go.
Too bad...the collector will never appreciate it fully. Nor most of the others in his/her collection. |
