I know absolutely nothing about Syracuse. But, even with the recent increase in Greek life interest, wouldn't those statistics be red flags to an NPC expansion committee?
It would to me! I'd want to see at least two years of everyone being within 5 members from Total before I'd say Syracuse is prepared for expansion. If they really wanted to expand, wouldn't they have kept Total a bit lower for now?

The Pi Beta Phi website is reporting 61 pledges for their new colony at New York University.

Newspaper article talks about the growth in number of pnms for existing GLOs.
Reports 102 women pledged, but doesn't give specific numbers for the 3 sororities.

Does anyone know if the locals and the NPC chapters have the same "caps" at NYU?

She's talking about the Alpha chapter of her sorority. I think her point was that Alpha Gams would like for the climate to improve enough for them to return.

Also, I believe Kappa Delta closed in 1933 (34?) and recolonized in 1990. I don't remember what they said, but we got to see the composites and I remember that being the gap.

50? Oh my god the highest I've ever heard it being before was 35, I think! That's fabulous! Any idea what total is these days and how everyone did?

It was last year. This year 618 girls signed up for recruitment. Last year about 450 applied. The freshman class was huge this year, so big they ran out of housing.
As for total... give me a few days and I'll try to find out.
I heard that Kappa Kappa Gamma and Kappa Delta were either 54 or 56 each, tying for first place. I will work out where everyone else will go. I will also check the validity of those statements. The person was a little drunk from celebrating a good recruitment...

Lol, that tends to happen. Thanks for the info and sorry to barrage you with questions, it's just been a few years since I've heard much about greek life at my alma mater. I hope you're enjoying it there!

Oh, duh. Even though OTW is a frequent poster, I don't keep track of a poster's NPC affiliation unless it's evident in her name or signature line. Now both the comment and the wink and smile make more sense. Thanks, irishpipes, for politely connecting the "Syracuse Triad" dots for me.

This is a huge quota number for U of O- fantastic. After graduating seniors last year, I bet the new member classes are as large as the rest of the chapter for most of the sororities. U of O lost at least 4 sororities between the early 90s and early 00s due to low numbers. It is great to see the remaining houses get this boost.
