I think this one is going to have a long term impact on Galveston and the surrounding areas- since it looks like a lot of the infrastructure may have been damaged or destroyed. Think of all those families, without homes, figuring out where to send their kids to school for an unknown time. Think of all the jobs those people cannot go back to right away. (I am not trying to minimize the impact of food, water, shelter, power, etc.) It is not like they can instantaneously rebuildall that was lost. Having volunteered with the Katrina rebuild through our church, I see all the rebuilding that is still going on and needed years later.
