Highs: Being told by the retina specialist this morning that my eye was going to be ok after being diagnosed with a torn retina and undergoing eye surgery last week. He said that he wanted me to start using it again (Hello, Greek Chat and all those books). It brings me closer to returning to work. However, it seems that things are going well.

Lows: Thank God that I listened to my optometrist who said if you got floaters to come on in. The vision kept getting cloudier, and I knew that it was bad so I made an appointment with an opthamologist. Just being told that my retina was torn & that it could cause up to 50% loss of vision in that eye was a real shock to the system. Coming out of anesthesia and being zoned out on codeine-laced Tylenol for a few days because of the pain was a low, too. I still have to use eyedrops 3 times daily. Now the only other low is that the specialist will have to laser the other eye in a few months to ensure that the same thing won't occur there. I also have to get new glasses & contacts because the surgery/treatments change the shape of the eye.
