Organizations founded AFTER 1930, Why did you pledge?

I was interested in GBX for a few reasons.

A) It is the First Black Service Fraternity

B) The organization caters to students from 4yr, 2yr and tech, related, institutions of higher learning.

C) I have the opportunity of making history by aiding not just in the internal structure of the organization but also it's growth on a national scope.

I was pretty surprised myself. But, though, other older Black Greek Lettered Fraternities do service projects they are Social. Hence, where we come in.

Well we have a constitutionally bound sister group for females interested in joining a service oriented society.

And of course there is always GSS or APO.

I think her point was that under federal law, no collegiate organization can restrict membership to males (or females) unless it is classified as a "social" fraternity (or sorority). A constitutionally bound but still seperate organization might not satisfy this federal requirement. (See the example of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma, for instance.)

Exactly. All NPHC organizations are service fraternities and sororities. They are "social" only in the sense that they are Title IX exempt and can restrict membership based on legal gender.

Funny......I don't recall saying that we restrict anyone from joining.
