You're one of the few I've ever talked to that didn't get cut from even one sorority they liked throughout the week. I got my top choice on bid day, but we've established that I had a couple of disappointments during the week. Did you go to a big or small school? (I promise, I don't mean that in a mean way, or snarky, or whatever the word is!)

I know, I wasn't arguing with you. I was trying to explain in the nicest way possible, because I knew your experience is only from the PNM side.
Nope, mine wasn't perfect. Read my retro thread.

Lol, after dealing with all of this, I'm not sure I want to even go through with a sorority, if this is what it's like! Thank you for actually taking the time to explain your point in a nice way.

smaller, yes, not petite. Just to personal for minute and tell you why I suicided. I lost my birthmom at the tender age of 5. Then my stepmom 2 days before recruitment found out she had breast cancer. Let's just say that's all i needed to hear on philanthropy night. I wanted to join a sorority b/c my birthmom did it and my dad wanted me to, but also b/c i wanted to use my heart and the things that are really close to me to reach out to others. I found home right away. Really though, I was blessed, and truly feel like I had an angel looking out for me

Ok. People on here have been pretty nice about this. But, if this would keep you from joining a sorority, maybe greek life isn't for you. You will have disagreements with your sisters, you won't like all of them, you may strongly detest some of them, you will probably cuss them, and they will at some point probably cuss you.
But, this is life. If that's too much for you, wait until you start your career! Work life gets even better! Sorority life is the easy part.

Please tell me you're kidding. Sarcasm doesn't really work well on GC.
When you get a big group of girls together, THERE WILL BE DRAMA.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to look past the drama and enjoy the things sisterhood has to offer.

Don't go through. You can still come out to the fraternity parties and ho around there. You don't need to be in a sorority to do that!

That's really cool. So your sorority definitely has an even more special meaning for you than most! I mean, not to take away from other people's experience. It's just that you sort of have an even more significant experience. Gosh, I can't find what I'm trying to say, and I definitely am trying to be careful! But that is a neat story for sure. Sorry, I didn't mean to pry, I was just curious to hear why your rush went so well!

Hmm. Must have missed that "niceness" between the "melodramatic bitch," the "bottom tier sorority," and the "ho-ing around frat parties." My bad.
I give up. Hope you got your entertainment for the night.

um, WOW. Some folks may need to double up on the scotch (or prozac) tonight. uk2011, congratulations, and don't let some of these folks scare you off. Usually it's just the helicopter moms who can get this place stirred up into a feeding frenzy, but there's been a shortage of hovering parents lately, and they must be hungry.
BTW, it seems a bit hypocritical for a PNM to be held to the "keep an open mind, there's no such thing as a bad sorority" standard when 'we', the initiated ones, can say or think things like "have fun in your bottom tier sorority."

Okay new Kappa Delta, this might be a good time to bow out of this discussion.
Stick around GC a little bit longer and you'll realize that THIS IS really being nice.

Come on, there's nothing bad about ho-ing around fraternity parties. It's better to have the real thing opposed to some battery operated "boyfriend".

No, thanks, I've had more than enough GC for this lifetime. You all have fun here, but I'd really rather talk to people who don't consider name-calling "nice."

Thank you!! I'm definitely wishing I had never found this place, but it's sort of like watching a train wreck: you just can't take your eyes off of it. I almost feel bad for them that they get so much enjoyment nitpicking and attacking over nothing. But I know that it doesn't matter what I say, they're still going to be like that!
Thanks again for sticking up for me...no one else will!
