I think there may be some confusion with the OP's post and uk2011's posts (if I'm reading correctly). From what I can tell uk2011 did go in with a pretty good attitude, while the OP obviously did not.

I understand what you're saying, uk2011, but please wait and see what it's like on the other side. You're right, you can have an opinion and you are the only one who met those girls, but you also only have half of the perspective having been on one side of Recruitment.

Thank you, and I promise, I understand there are two sides. Although after this whole drama, I'm starting to wonder if I can handle this sort of thing on a day to day basis.

I really had no intention of starting a major argument over a handful of girls I felt like were misleading. I only meant to say that you never know what happens when the doors are closed, and just because you thought they really liked you, doesn't mean you'll get asked back.

Agreed. And, don't feel special, name calling is a source of entertainment for me. I do it constantly, without discrimination.

We're not trying to be bitches. We just know how it is on the other side.

I'm not trying to say what it's like from the other side. Not at all. I'm still not even sure what you took such offense to.

Seriously? Yes. Seriously.

I wasn't offended. (It takes a lot more to offend me...) I was trying to get you to see that the girls probably meant what they said. I think ALL of us have meant that and lost one of our "Rush crushes". I hope they didn't think me fake because they were not voted through.

Also, even if an active "doesn't think you have a shot" she's not going to be rude (well, most of the time). As a chapter, you want PNMs to leave your house with a pleasant taste in their mouths at the very least. Like I said, you'll see once you recruit for your chapter. It is normal to have the feelings you had, but we were offering another take on the "fakeness" you felt based on the fact that we've had more experience in this area than you.

Oh, I realize that. And let me repeat that I am not trying to disagree with you. This was my experience. Did any of you have a perfect Recruitment experience when you went through?

Yes! I did actually. I loved everything about it. I feel sorry for the people who didn't get their top choice. But I suicided. I didn't really care what people thought about my letters. I was proud to wear them from day one and still am.

You're one of the few I've ever talked to that didn't get cut from even one sorority they liked throughout the week. I got my top choice on bid day, but we've established that I had a couple of disappointments during the week. Did you go to a big or small school? (I promise, I don't mean that in a mean way, or snarky, or whatever the word is!)

smaller, yes, not petite. Just to personal for minute and tell you why I suicided. I lost my birthmom at the tender age of 5. Then my stepmom 2 days before recruitment found out she had breast cancer. Let's just say that's all i needed to hear on philanthropy night. I wanted to join a sorority b/c my birthmom did it and my dad wanted me to, but also b/c i wanted to use my heart and the things that are really close to me to reach out to others. I found home right away. Really though, I was blessed, and truly feel like I had an angel looking out for me

That's really cool. So your sorority definitely has an even more special meaning for you than most! I mean, not to take away from other people's experience. It's just that you sort of have an even more significant experience. Gosh, I can't find what I'm trying to say, and I definitely am trying to be careful! But that is a neat story for sure. Sorry, I didn't mean to pry, I was just curious to hear why your rush went so well!

I know, I wasn't arguing with you. I was trying to explain in the nicest way possible, because I knew your experience is only from the PNM side.

Nope, mine wasn't perfect. Read my retro thread.

Lol, after dealing with all of this, I'm not sure I want to even go through with a sorority, if this is what it's like! Thank you for actually taking the time to explain your point in a nice way.

Ok. People on here have been pretty nice about this. But, if this would keep you from joining a sorority, maybe greek life isn't for you. You will have disagreements with your sisters, you won't like all of them, you may strongly detest some of them, you will probably cuss them, and they will at some point probably cuss you.

But, this is life. If that's too much for you, wait until you start your career! Work life gets even better! Sorority life is the easy part.

Hmm. Must have missed that "niceness" between the "melodramatic bitch," the "bottom tier sorority," and the "ho-ing around frat parties." My bad.

I give up. Hope you got your entertainment for the night.
