I can understand that, to a point. But, I personally think that type of preemptive moderation is more likely to inflame the masses, and also more likely to cause more work rather than less work for the moderator in the end. I suppose it is a case of whether you choose to believe the best, or expect the worst.
I think this thread may also be proof of that.
(Said in a manner that shouldn't be interpreted as flippantly as it might appear online.)
