ETA: looking at the recruitment thread http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ad.php?t=97907, it looks like fewer than 750 girls were placed with quota at 11 chapters last year, so maybe 1200 gives a lot of cushion before any cap would really kick in. 450 would seem like a lot of PNMs not finishing recruitment if they started with 1200.
My records from alumnae panhellenic handouts report that there were 966 PNMs registered for 2006 and 1001 PNMs registered for 2007 .. so a cutoff of 1200 is 200 more than the most that have been registered in quite a while. Also, even though quota was reported at 67, most (10?) chapters had quota additions and 757 women were offered bids.

So in other words, this is just a "get on the stick and send your crap in" kind of thing rather than something that is going to devastate PNM #1201.

I'm guessing that it's especially important this year w/ the colony coming.

Thank you everyone for the information. I touched based with my friend (the mom) and explained to her why formal rush was a better route than informal rush. She said they would call the Greek Life office tomorrow and find out if she can late register. I also explained to her about reqs and if the Greek life office said ok, I would help them with all the information they would need to get reqs. I realize it's late and she may not be able to get a req for each sorority, but some are better than none in my opinion. We're in small town America and most people here have zero knowledge about the Greek system. My friend was very appreciative of the information I was able to give to her. I do hope the Greek life office gives her the green light. She is such a delightful young lady and any NPC would be lucky to have her as their member.

fingers crossed for your friends daughter. don't be discouraged about the lack of greek resources from living in a small town. i grew up in a small town myself, but with the help of family friends, managed to have recs. to almost all the houses at fsu and there were 18 at the time.

if you have kept in touch with any of your sorority sisters, they might have friends in other sororities. between your network and the girls family's network of acquaintances you just might luck out.

please be sure to let us know how everything works out.
