SAE has eight founders. Click here for a little info about the history of the Fraternity from the headquarters website. The eight founders were:

Noble Leslie DeVotie (Chief Founder, author of the Ritual)
Nathan Elams Cockrell
John Barratt Rudulph (designed the badge)
