Just got back from UA! It was the most incredible thing I've ever seen. My daughter pledged DZ, her second choice.

My mother-in-law was a DZ ... we are a veritable alphabet soup in my family! Haven't had two of the same sorority since I pledged my Ohio Wesleyan grandmother's KKG at UF.

I've also heard AOII described as the best of new row, so I guess it depends on who you ask.

Girls from my hometown were all over the place. I wrote recs for two girls - 1 went KD, 1 went AGD.
The others pledged:
1 - XO
1 - ZTA
2 - PHI MU
2 - AOPI
3 - AXO

Back in my day (80's) old row = old money.
KD, Alpha Gam, Tri-Delt, and Kappa were the top of Old Row.
Chi O and Phi Mu, were still considered Old Row and very desirable and hard to get into, but they were considered slightly "newer" money, and therefore not quite as prestigious as the first four. I am glad to see that mindset amongst the PNM's has changed somewhat...

ua70s - my era too - you're right, that's what it was called back in our day. But now Old Row means something different.

Right...back in our day, it was the "circle sororities."

Well, I've wasted another day hovering on GreekChat waiting for recruitment information. I'm giving up for the day which means the list will be posted in the next ten minutes. [/shaking of fist]

You know, several years back, UA had its last sorority rush where the sisters stood outside their houses holding candles and serenaded the new members as they rushed to the houses after receiving their bids at dusk.
I had a chance to attend that.
Shoulda ... coulda ...

How long does it normally take for Alabama to post its list from bid day.

That was actually Serious Night (now called Preference and it is in the afternoon). We stood outside in our white dresses and sang by candlelight to the rushees on their last night of Rush Week. After bids were received the next afternoon, it was mass chaos (as us oldies called it Squeal Day) and fun...no candles.

Would a young lady really "choose" her potential new membership based upon "old row" ... "new row" ... or how much the fees are? Is there really that much a difference in fees?

Most girls don't choose old row, old row chooses them. LOL
Here is a good chart that shows the range:

If that link doesn't work let me know and i'll copy/paste.
