Hi, ladies! Hope you don't mind me responding. I haven't known any freshmen to come through my chapter since I've been on campus. I think it's important to make sure you know where an interest's head is at before you allow her to make any committments. Greek life is a totally new experience to many college students, and for some, one semester is not enough to know FOR SURE what direction they wish to take. For others it may be more than enough. So I agree it should be case-by-case. I've spoken to several freshman girls who told me organizations tried to "recruit" them, but because they were unsure of what they wanted to do, they were left feeling uncomfortable with the whole situation. I also know of orgs that pull in 1st semester freshmen/transfers before they have adequate hours. I've seen many girls begin a "process", and when they have the hours, they don't have the grades. They end up unable to go through with the process, but walk away knowing stuff non-members shouldn't know. It's just important to be careful in any situation.
