Ok...so this is getting WAY out of hand. I am a member of Kappa Gamma Sorority at SCSU, and I simply cannot believe that this matter is still being discussed here. Are we serious, ladies? Don't you "real" Kappas and Zetas and Deephers have something better to be doing (such as sticking to the morals you preach, like philanthropy & community service) than sitting on your computers and researching a small state school like Southern and its Greek Life?! Really now.
To set the record straight, we were NOT founded by a transfer student. A legitamate KKG who went to UConn happened to be best friends with an SCSU student who wanted to start an organization. So the material that we had (yes, past tense) came from a creeper of a KKG, not a theiving KG. We never approached KKG to affiliate because we had no interest. We have our local pride, and weren't interested in being a NPC group. We've since changed our badge and symbols, so we have no connection whatsoever with KKG.
And the poster SCSUgirl who got ya'll so riled up is full of shit. She wasn't trying to rush us. We aren't even HAVING A RUSH this spring. My guess would be that she's already part of an organization at SCSU and is trying to slander us. It's okay to be jealous, honey, but this is a bit much
Any further questions as to the legitamacy of our organization can be directed to our President at kappagamma1213@yahoo.com

Oh, judging by the tone of your post obviously everyone here is waaaayyyy off the mark. You do a fine job of representing your little ol group. It may be that the wrong impression has been given to the community at large about your group given their early thieving (i before e except after c) of the symbols, colours and even name of Kappa Kappa Gamma. If some 7 or 8 years later you have changed, well, about time.
And yes, the REAL sorority women here ( both local and NPC) have lots to do - including calling a spade a spade, and a copycat org a copycat org. Are you still calling yourself Kappa Gamma, or Kappas? 'Nuff said.
eta - and if you had let this sleeping dog lie, the thread would probably have died.

and i wanted to add
I think it's hilarious that on the chapter's myspace page, they are listed as "swingers"
Status: Swinger
Hometown: New Haven, Connecticut
Zodiac Sign: Sagittarius
Education: In college
http://www.myspace.com/kappagammasisters
If I was a pnm I'm not sure I would want to join a group that was openly into the whole swinging thing...

I don't think anyone here is "stressing". But let me point out that had the group not received so much criticism they might not have changed everything they stole from Kappa Kappa Gamma. I know of no other NPC group called "Kappa" - the only one who might, Kappa Alpha Theta,is most definitely "Theta", so I don't understand what you mean about the names. Several national fraternities and sororities changed their original name when they learned an earlier group already had it - ADII and Sigma Chi spring to mind. The whole subject would have been dropped had not the latest "Kappa Gamma" chosen to come here and act in such a defensive and unladylike manner. Having done so, she's painted a target on her group. She chose to revisit the subject - and having done so, should expect that those who feel strongly about the subject of copycat groups might have something to say.
Should you not like the criticism leveled at the group, might I suggest you not visit the thread?
eta - I believe you mean "moot", not "mute".
