But i was thinking highly about doing FIJI at UGA as i got 2 good friends in it, and i hear they are legendary at Texas. I know it doesnt matter as i stated before as ur undergrad is what really matters, but i still think it would be cool.
I'll get back at ya down the road and keep in touch, thanks for the advice and offer!

now are these the kind of guys that party hard and also are upstanding members of the college community, or the type that know they are in the best fraternity on campus and are just drugged out and arrogant.
I mean no disrespect, but i definately ran into both types of "top tier" houses, you know what i mean.

Drugs are present in fraternities to the same extent they are present in the general population- being a user or non-user in and of itself should not inform your decision for the most part. At Georgia there are some houses known for marijuana use- which I find rather low class- but aside from avoiding houses like that where most people are pot smokers, I would not get too worried about the drug question.
FIJI is a top house at both Georgia and Texas and it would be greatly to your credit to be a member if that is your destiny.

well i almost expect marijuana to be present either in the open or behind closed door in any fraternity these days, really just the way it is. But you would be surprised at how openly cocaine is present these days.
I don't like to associate with something known for being a "coke fraternity". Because i def know of a couple of those types on dif campuses

100% best statement on the matter I have seen. It is true to my experience at W&L at least.

Same goes for Brown. I would say that at the fraternity level, marijuana was pretty standard. Coke was becoming pretty standard back in '03, so I can't imagine what it's like now.

exactly, it seems to me the more "presitge" a fraternity has for being a member of it or the more popular it is with the girls, the more harder drugs like acid and coke and all types of pills are present. I don't know why the two would be linked at all, but thats really how it is these days. Theres def a trend at USC, and so i hear at UGA or Bama.

It's cheap here....but that's just location.
30$ a gram for the high society. Varies regionally though.

Not in Fayetteville.
Not that it matters all that much, but 60-80 for a gram is normal here.
Back home, another story...30-40 a gram...
it's back in full swing in the fraternity houses.

Every fraternity has pot smokers, but when I was an active- and to this day- it is not tolerated in our house. You just can't have that.
Cocaine was not really a big thing when I was in college, but seems to be moreso now.
I have never cared for hard drugs, nor even tried any of them. So I am sure things go on that I never knew about. But even then, back in my time I think hard drug use was not a major staple of any fraternity's existence. Sure I knew some, but it seems much more common now.
I could care less if people want to use them discreetly or away from my living space- but with the benefit of age and experience I have known too many "fratstars" who thought they could quit when they graduated or at least keep it under control, and were proven fatally wrong. Even if one survives it, a coke habit and all the trappings that come with it can blow through even a pretty good sized trust fund in a hurry.
