It's easy to see how the average member of a current chapter at Alabama might get confused about the process.
Interestingly, when I looked up, just on Wikipedia, to see where Alpha Phi had chapters, there's a list which includes an active chapter at the University of Alabama. (I know it's wikipedia, and not official, but rumors are probably going to be hard to stifle about any of the groups.)
I'd just hate for any group presenting to feel slighted or like minds were already made up.

I agree with everyone who is saying that the rumors are getting a bit out of hand. Sure, it could very well end up being DG, but it could just as easily be another group (again this is not to say that there is anything wrong with DG). I actually had a girl PM me asking when DG would hold it's colony recruitment, because she was a legacy and was planning attending Bama to join. I promptly burst her bubble and told her that selections have not yet been made and there is no DG colony at Bama to speak of at this time.
I really hope that the girls making these decisions can remain unbiased and make the best choice for their campus, whichever group it may be. It must be hard with people already pushing so hard for one group.

While I am not involved in this project, as an experienced extension person, I can tell you that the most important aspect of a successful colonization at a large prestigious campus is having the right people on campus.
I have watched Alpha Phi do this very well on several campuses by busing in the right women from multiple chapters.

Which is exactly why a number of people felt awkward about having this topic on GC in the first place....

i do have a question though...i heard that there was a sorority that got kicked off of the campus because they were running a brothel out of their house. i was wondering 1. if this was true and 2. if someone could tell me who it was as it is a topic of discussion on sorority row.

A presentation does not mean they will be allowed to come on campus. All three groups selected to present will have an equal amount of time to present, and Panhellenic will then make their decision.
Regarding the second part of your post...instead of wondering about and perpetuating rumors, maybe you should take some time and read the announcements at the top of the AKA forum BEFORE you start posting.

as far as the second part of my post is concerned i was simply posing a question because seeing as this is my third year at the university and i have heard that every year since i have been here, i was just wondering, not "perpetuating rumors" as i have been accused.

I heard it was your sorority running the brothel.
I kid, I kid.
I think every campus has that rumor. My undergrad chapter has moved houses 3 times in the last 4 years and the current rumor on campus is because we were running a brothel and/or a coke den. It wouldn't have anything to do with wanting cheaper rent!

"I used to date a guy whose sister's roommate had a class with someone who knew a girl whose best friend overheard someone say they read on the internet that XYZ got kicked off campus like 50 years ago for hazing."
"OMG! XYZ hazes?"
"Yeah!"

I hear you guys about rumors. There's a chapter on my campus that has been "getting kicked off for selling pot out of their house" since I was a freshman in 2002.

Well I heard the only reason they weren't kicked off yet is because they are selling to XYZ and have turned state's evidence against those hazing stuck up snobs!

I don't think Greek Chat is really that important in real life.
I really meant rumors from people at Alabama, rather than armchair rushchairs at home. Who cares what we think?
ETA: this seems a little snippier than I intended. Sorry. I just meant that I don't know how much what gets discussed here really matters. But maybe I underestimate our importance in the UA greek system.

Ohhhhh I beg to differ. But you already know my story.
Putting my own experiences aside, I really do think that GreekChat can influence a colonization effort. I suppose there's a lot of talk here because it *IS* 'Bama, but I'd say that most of the time, open talk about groups presenting and speculation of who's going to get chosen doesn't really happen. And for good reason.

I don't know. It doesn't really seem the same to me. I just can't imagine anybody with a vote in the process at Bama giving a flip about what was said here.
I never really paid that much attention to the threads about similar topics, but I'd guess they were more subdued because the people who really are involved with the system and the GLOs are directly told not to say much, so real info. in limited.
Here we're just speculating at random*, pretty much, aren't we? I know I am.
*Random isn't the word I really mean. I guess I mean idly maybe.
