I'm not trying to be a douche about it, but I've seen a lot of great advice in this thread and I'm wondering when I'm going to see an expression of gratitude.

excuse me....
THANK Y'ALL
but please, don't take that as a reason to stop! this is really helpful. I've been afraid that a 'thank you' would be seen as the end of the thread, and that's the last thing I want.

GeekyPenguin, that's an interesting suggestion. I don't think anyone on this campus has ever tried that, but I'm all about new ideas. I'll give it a shot.
And on the name subject- Acacia is a Greek word. It's originally the name of a plant, a bushy evergreen with gold flowers that grows in the middle east. Acacia got it as a name because it's significant to Freemasons (being one, I would know). But the word is very definitely Greek.

That is true, but I also said that it was not part of the Greek Alphabet.

I'd make the link to the Calendar on your Recruitment page of your website larger - it's pretty small and blends in. I might also put that on the homepage if I were you.
I don't know what the student housing situation at LA Tech is (or how Greek-friendly it is) but you might want to try contacting the hall councils to see if they would let you come around and make announcements as well. The more people who are talking about you, the better!

Of course, nobody ever claimed it was.
Glad to be of help, TechTransfer.

The e-mail went out today. The first response came within minutes:
"NO, I HATE FRAT SHIT. DON"T SEND ME ANYTHING ELSE"
I hope that's not indicative of the general response.

Eh...eff them. That's that 10% you'll hear about that wouldn't join if their life depended on it. Who you're after are the 10% who'll join no matter what, and the 80% who are undecided. (Or, so I was told as an undergrad)

If you only got one response like that, that would be super. I'd be prepared for, like AF said, about 5 - 10%. Be sure to strike them from your list, and soldier on!

It is never easy as I have done the same thing with my $$$ and time!
I started @ 12 years ago working to build our email site.
I still get, kick backs as they do not update their emails??
But now finally, I am getting some back to show changes!!!
I love the ones who either say I am not getting anything! Dah, you do not let me know!
Or, I am tired of getting emails! Then some complain that they do not know what is going on!
Then a Brother made the comment and emailed it out,
"If You do not read the eamils, then how do you think you will find anything out?"
Stupid is as Stupid does!
Just keep working at it! It does take time, work and $$! :Yours:!

Congratulations, you have made the first step and have some feed back. Ask them to help in getting emails. As it grows, find someone in each pledge class who is active and see if they keep in touch with others that they may have and feed you.
It will take a while so stick to it!
