No, I just don't know what you think this "proves" other than that so far, the Pac10 has won the most games and the Big 10, ACC and SEC have ALL won 2 games. And....???

And as of 12/31, the SEC remains the only undefeated conference in bowl games at 4-0. You can spout all the other stats you like, but SECDomination said his record posting was for those of us that think bowl game W-L indicates which conference is the best. Actually, this is just very entertaining and heart-warming for us SEC fans.

UPDATED AGAIN ^^^

Sorry PhiGam, Firehouse, FSUZeta, etc...

WAR EAGLE!
Confusing.

Does it also mean that less SEC teams have been bowl eligible?

The SEC had 10 of 12 teams bowl eligible (83.3%) with 9 teams (75%) earning bowl bids. As of this morning, the SEC is 4/4 (100%) and the only undefeated conference. With four more games today and the National Championship game next week, we'll see what happens.

Team (Ranking) Record Bowl Bid/Results

Georgia (4) 10-2 Sugar Bowl

Tennessee (16) 9-4 Won Outback Bowl

Florida (9) 9-3 Lost to Michigan in Capital One Bowl!!!

Kentucky 8-5 WON Music City!!!

South Carolina 6-6 Bowl eligible--no bid

Vanderbilt 5-7 Not eligible

LSU (2) 11-2 BCS Championship Game

Auburn (22) 9-4 Won Chick-fil-A bowl

Arkansas (25) 8-4 Lost Cotton Bowl

Mississippi State 8-5 Won Liberty Bowl

Alabama 7-6 Won Independence Bowl

Mississippi 3-9 Not Eligible

They should win, based on the way the SEC puts together recruiting classes. Speaking only on the Big Ten and SEC... the Big Ten instituted a policy where teams could oversign by no more than three players. The SEC is among the conferences with no guidelines.

According to Scout.com, SEC teams lined up an average of 101 commitments during the 2004-07 period. The Big Ten Teams averaged 85 recuits for the same time period.\

For the 2007 year alone the number of average recruits per conference were as follows:

SEC 26.3
Conf USA 25.3
Big 12 25.1
Big East 24.4
MWC 23.8
Pac 10 22.7
MAC 21.8
ACC 21.7
Sunbelt 21.6
WAC 21.4
Big Ten 19.9

The only thing I can compare this with is the Yankees total salaries vs. the rest of baseball.

My Gators may have played poorly and ended the season with a loss, but rest assured, the LSU Tigers will NOT!
Bring on another beating for Ohio State, bring on the SEC dominance, and bring on Emmanuel Moody and a No.1 Preseason ranking in 2008!
I was really happy for Lloyd Carr, hes a very nice guy who I've had the pleasure of talking to on numerous occasions. It was pretty cool seeing Michigan running a spread, they should have been running it all year with their personnel.
And what do you mean by not deserved? They took advantage of your weak secondary and put up almost 600 yards.

Never in my life will I let a Michigan alum that dares to speak of college football live that first loss down. Never.

@SECdomination - I'm glad you can admit the entire truth of the matter.

I stand corrected

Seems as if I may have heard some stat incorrectly during the game on Tuesday:
Ohio State is 0-7 Against SEC Teams in Bowl Games

that link is to a story from 2006. OSU is 0-8 against SEC teams in bowl games since then.

2007 41-14 (Lost to Florida) BCS Nat'l Championship
2002 31-28 (South Carolina) Outback
2001 24-7 (South Carolina) Outback
1996 20-14 (Tennessee) Citrus
1995 24-17 (Alabama) Citrus
1993 21-14 (Georgia) Citrus
1990 31-14 (Auburn) Hall of Fame
1978 35-6 (Alabama) Sugar

not that it has any bearing on this game-- different teams different years and all-- but in those 8 games, the SEC outscored OSU: 227 to 114.

but like i said, different teams, different year.

LSU 41
OSU 14

While I am not an advocate for the current BCS system, I do appreciate that they are attempting to spread the wealth both literally and figuratively. As such, saying that a conference champion has the right to play in a bowl game *if* it ends up ranked in the BCS top twelve, does have its merits. Otherwise, we would not have had last year's Fiesta Bowl match up. Nor should we say that in hindsight, just because a team gets creamed in their bowl game they did not deserve to be there. We only have to look at Ohio State in last year's BCS title game and/or Oklahoma in the 2004 title game as examples. There are plenty of folk who felt both teams deserved to be in the title game and yet both were soundly defeated.

It does seem that generally speaking, over the years the BCS selection does seem to work. Again to be clear, I am talking all five BCS bowl games (BCS Title, Fiesta, Orange, Rose, Sugar) and not just the BCS Title game. (That is another different discussion.) Basically, the main issue I have with this season's BCS games is that and that Kansas was selected over Missouri for the Orange Bowl. Not that KU does not deserve a BCS game, but just that if only two teams are allowed to go from a conference to a BCS bowl, then I would hope they would be the two "best" teams. The other "minor" issue is that Illinois was selected for the Rose Bowl. But at least I do understand the historical (traditional) reason for the Rose Bowl to take Illinois so that there is a Pacific Ten versus Big Ten match up. So it does not seem like such a bad choice given the tradition of the Rose Bowl.

As such, if we use the BCS premise that all six of the BCS conference champions (Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big Ten, Big Twelve, Pacific Ten, Southeastern) are guaranteed a BCS bowl (BCS Title, Fiesta, Orange, Rose, Sugar), followed by any other conference (Conference USA, Mid-American, Mountain West, Sun Belt, Western Athletic) champion that finishes in the BCS top twelve, then if we use the BCS final regular season rankings, only Missouri got screwed. And perhaps Illinois should not have gone to the Rose Bowl. Perhaps Missouri in the Rose and Arizona State in Orange.

guaranteed BCS bowl team bolded

BCS Standings
01 Ohio State - Required to play in the BCS Title game as number one ranked BCS team
02 Louisiana State - Required to play in the BCS Title game as number two ranked BCS team
03 Virginia Tech - ACC Champion, required to play in Orange
04 Oklahoma - Big Twelve Champion, required to play in Fiesta
05 Georgia - at large
06 Missouri
07 Southern California - Pacific Ten Champion, required to play in Rose Bowl
08 Kansas - at large
09 West Virginia - Big East Champion, required to play in *a* BCS bowl
10 Hawaii - Western Athletic Champion, required to play in *a* BCS bowl due to top twelve BCS standing
11 Arizona State
12 Florida
13 Illinois - at large

The same may be said if we use the AP final regular season rankings. Missouri got screwed and Illinois should not have gone to the Rose Bowl.

AP Standings
01 Ohio State - Required to play in the BCS Title game as number one ranked BCS team
02 Louisiana State - Required to play in the BCS Title game as number two ranked BCS team

10 Hawaii - Western Athletic Champion, required to play in *a* BCS bowl due to top twelve BCS standing
11 West Virginia - Big East Champion, required to play in *a* BCS bowl
12 Arizona State
13 Illinois - at large

The bottom line seems to be that the BCS conferences (Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big Ten, Big Twelve, Pacific Ten, Southeastern) are not going to allow any one conference to have more than two members in a BCS game (BCS Title, Fiesta, Orange, Rose, Sugar). The simple reason being financial. So there was no way that both Missouri and Kansas were going to get a bowl bid. But why Kansas, I do not know.

What the deuce?

Kentucky was the better team than Florida State going into the Music City Bowl. It was UK - the better team - who almost gave the game away. The opposite applies for the Florida and Michigan game.

Well then I guess Florida fans should be embarrassed that they lost to Michigan.
