Now take that from your computer screen and put that on a college research paper.

ETA: It reminds me of how the younger people are using chat-speak on middle and high school homework assignments. These are the college students of the future. We need serious intervention.

Sadly, it isn't just the middle and high school assignments that are being submitted in chat-speak. One of my students turned in a paper that consistently used 'b4' throughout the whole paper. I circled it every time. He then asked me, "Did you count off for this? How many points?"

the first time was intentional, the second time, that was me slipping back into neo-mode and totally unintentional...

but i hear you - my UG chapter tried to get cute by using the cutesy spellings in our pamphelets and more than half the interests were like, you spelled something wrong... im confused, is that some phrase i need to know... etc.

yeah, that got scrapped quick.
