Yes, perhaps show just a shred of respect by standing up and actually facing him. I don't care if you're meeting a famous person or the guy that runs the corner deli, when you're introduced to someone (and especially when it's someone who could have an impact on your future in his industry), you stand up!

EXACTLY. My girls and I were like, Did she realize she just shook
Marc Jacobs' hand?? Not ol' boy Marc from around the corner, but Marc Jacobs! I mean, I see my supervisor and his boss pretty often, but I still STAND and shake their hand as a sign of respect. No home training.

I, too, was shocked that Lauren didn't bother getting up for Marc Jacobs.
Still, being that she IS Lauren Conrad and she HAS been with Teen Vogue for a while, I find it hard to believe that this was her and Marc's first ever meeting. We know that a lot of stuff gets scripted on the show, so for all we know this one might have been too.

Considering she sat front row at his show in the spring and there were pictures of them together possibly then and another time, I'm almost positive this meeting was scripted for the show.

actually, having gone through too many etiquette sessions (oh, the life of being a kid of a fed gov't employee and a military brat), a woman is not required to rise when acknowledging a male. a man should always stand though.
yes, he is marc jacobs, but technically she did nothing wrong.
