I usually stay out of these debates on subjects about posting...and anything else for that matter. If I agree with something I may post a small statement and move on like I did above. However, I would like to share my humble opinion on this matter.
I understand that the "regulars" get tired of answering the same questions. What I don't understand is that if you are all so tired of answering them, why do you even take the time to do so? I agree that the poster could do a search and may find what he/she is looking for. I don't agree that it should take several posts answering the same way..."DO A SEARCH!!!"
What I see happening is that the problem has reversed. Now we not only have the same questions being asked, but we have them being answered the same way, by several people. Some of the posters asking these repetitive questions may be genuinely interested in the given subject. When there are so many people telling them to do a search it just seems a little mean. This could even scare some of our new members away. Couldn't just one person tell them to do a search?
I don't understand why there is all this fuss over posting. Let people ask what they want. If you don't want to answer the question then don't. Most of you regulars know I don't post that much. However, I check this message board often. When there is a subject I am interested in or that I feel I can contribute to, then I post. If it doesn't interest me or I have nothing to add, then I move on, or I don't even open it to begin with.
Really, what is so difficult about this?
This is obviously a post that interested me. Actually, I hope that my opinion can contribute to this matter in a positive way. Just let people be. There are bigger things to worry about. I know that is almost contradicting myself since I took the time to post about the matter, but some of the comments made throughout GC regarding posting and searching have made me so uncomfortable and upset that I just had to speak out.
Please try and see my point of view.
