Sooo honestly, I was really trying to root for the girl... but, the performance was really lackluster (much like the track)

She was obviously lip-syncing .... her outfit... soooo scary. She has obviously not gotten back to her pre-baby weight... and I'm not saying that in a mean way, I think it's great that she's not a size -2 and looks a little more "normal" but her body was part of her appeal before the whole marriage thing.

The dance moves were not as good as they used to be at performances (judging by past TV performances) ... she didn't really look like she wanted to be there... everything was pretty sloppy and slow.

I really wanted her to blow everyone away, but that was not a "comeback" at all

I liked the song when I first heard it--still do. But she blew her chance tonight. She was not prepared, she didn't give it her all...and you shouldn't wear an outfit like that unless your body is slammin. Sad--because everyone likes a good come back story, and I am still rooting for her--but this was not it.

Her dance moves seemed stiff, like she was afraid to move.

I also thought the performance was horrible!!

Wrong outfit, she should have worn something that covers her flaws at least (in entertainment standards that is). And she didn't even try to dance, it's like...she lost the momentum and energy...it was disappointing, and she lip synced of course.

Kanye West's "Stronger" performance was way better, lol, that should have been the opening act you know?

2. she was definitely thicker... britney sho had some azz huh!
3. that outfit wouldve rocked for her 5 years ago but now its awkward onher
4. speaking of awkward, the dancing... she looked confused like she lost her place
5. lipsinging- dont we deserve better?
6. did you see 50's facialexpression? PRICELESS!

and Sarah Silverman was ATROCIOUS.

I am pretty sure Britney has always lipsynched the VMAs (could be wrong) but it was never this obvious. She was really just going through the motions.

She was probably scared out of her mind. Too bad she couldn't harness the energy.

(On a mostly unrelated note, I saw that Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg won a Creative Arts Emmy for the "Dick in the Box" song/skit on SNL last December).

Some of her rehearsal video is on TMZ.com and she seemed much more into the dancing, like she knew what she was doing. Something was wrong with her during the actual performance - she seemed lost in her eyes at the start.

i'm not a fan, never have been, but I was hoping she could at least pull it back together a LITTLE. And what happened to the Cris Angel magic thing she was supposed to do??

And was there something on her lip?? I couldn't help but notice it looked like she had a very prominent blemish...

I was hoping Cris Angel would do a magic trick and make Britney from 2000/2001 come back.

I am definitely not a Britney fan but I was really rooting for her tonight. She needed to do well. She bombed. I think it's over for her.

Yep. I agree w/ irishpipes that she seemed drunk/stoned/something.

The video for "Toxic" is on ondemand right now, so I pulled it up and watched it...as goofy as that song is, it was catchy, and she looked fantastic in the video and gave a great performance. It's depressing to realize that was only 4 years ago.

Not only should the exec. producer go, but everyone in charge of the teleprompters, camerashots, everything...

Looks like the parties outside the main room are a LOT more fun. Maybe that's why everyone in the main room seems to be having a terrible time - they know it's more fun elsewhere.

MTV- take a cue from Justin and start actually playing more videos...

Britney...SMH. I was rooting for her but she was struggling. And 50's expression was priceless. And her stylist and hairdresser need to be fired because it is a shame they had her on TV looking like that.

I agree with Justin...Show more videos!!!! But on the flip side, people want BET to show less videos.

Chris Brown and Alicia rocks!!!! And everyone knows how much I love Kanye.

And Jimmy Kimmel left his wife for that corny woman? Jamie was 50 million times funnier than her!

Some of the live performances were too short. I wished they would have shown more.

THIS WAS THE WORST VMAs EVER!!!!!!!! Go back to NY, have it at Radio City and stick to what you know. The show really didn't need changing. Stick with what you know.

ETA: Who got Dr. Dre out of hiding? Can they also get Eminiem out of hiding too? And tell them to hide 50?

I'm so sure. It's all over the news already. Plus Timbaland said he didn't want her again and again. I'm more than sure he'll say "I told you so" after this. MTV will have no choice but to realize it. I just think that they (along with thousands of Americans) really wanted to see her pull off a decent comeback. Instead, we were all left with the sad realization that she's just too screwed up of a person now for that to happen.
