Bid Day is Today!!

My friend seems to have had a great recruitment! She is a junior transfer, so she was cut from a few of her top choices, but she seems to be really positive about the whole experience. Her attitude alone has been admirable. She said to me "I am not too concerned about who is the popular group, I am just looking for sisterhood." She did pref three chapters last night, and says she can see herself with any of those groups, but especially her top two.

Do you know how numbers shook out for all the groups?

As far as I know, all but one house made quota and even took extra girls. I know that Alpha Chi took 61 girls, but I don't know figures for other houses yet.

Thanks for the info. Wouldn't it have been easier to recruit with everyone else, or do they not have any girls yet? Unless alot of bids didn't match, how can they expect to recruit when all of the other girls have gone with the established chapters?

They're starting from scratch and have no members right now. They're colonizing.

They will recruit upperclasswomen, and perhaps some freshman who are still eligible to participate in recruitment events this year. They did the same thing when they colonized at Mimai U of Ohio and since colonization they have been able to recruit quota there every year. The UNC Chapel hill colony has a great advisor team, alumni support and the Greek System as a whole is glad to see them back on campus.

Congrats to your happy enedning! I can't wait to see where you end up!

Pref night was extremely horrible for me. Because of the circumstances, I will not be able to say how each house went. I will say, however, that at one of the houses the girl who walked me in told me various things that included that she hated her sorority, that all the girls were fake and superficial, and that I not only shouldn't write this sorority down on my ranking card, but that I wouldn't fit in. She went on this rant for about 20 minutes. Needless to say I was SHOCKED and was almost on the verge of tears! I learned tonight that the same thing happened to a girl I had met at rush-- she ran out of the house crying and decided to drop out of rush. I assume it was the same girl I had as it was at the same house. I almost felt like doing the same thing. After that house, I really didn't know if Greek life was for me. I will say the other 2 houses went great, but I decided one of the houses just wasn't for me so I suicided them. I would have not been able to make a decision if it hadn't been for my Rho Chi who extended a supportive hand and told me repeated the girl was "psycho" and that wasn't what pref night was about. I promise though that this story has a happy ending!
I'm curious. What was your Rho Chi's reaction to the girl that bashed her own house?
