Texas A&M - Bid Day was Friday, August 24

I, too, am wondering how everything went at TAMU. I do know that Bid Day was yesterday (Friday, Aug 24), which was one day sooner than was originally scheduled. They moved the entire schedule ahead one day, because of the uncertainty of Hurricane Dean that was originally projected to hit Texas (but hit Mexico instead). So, convocation was last Sunday evening, and recruitment began on Monday rather than Tuesday.
If anyone has any numbers (e.g., what was quota?) please post them.

According to the news in our forum, Delta Gamma got quota (53) + 3 for a total of 56. 13 of them were legacies!

I heard this was not the greatest recruitment for TAMU. 863 girls signed up for recruitment, where drop out rates were extremely high. I'm not sure of exact numbers for the first 3 nights, but I have been told that on pref night 300 girls dropped out. Quota was supposed to be 53, but with all of the drop outs, ALL chapters were going to have to do snap bidding, so quota was lowered to 50. 4 chapters I am told did not make quota: DZ, Alpha Chi, Gamma Phi and ADPi. I am not sure how close or far or if they were able to make up with snapping, but from what I can tell, this probably was not the Aggies' best recruitment. 15 were cross cut.
I think this just proves why dirty rushing isn't fair to the PNM--why else would 300 drop out the last day? Just a thought....

hmmm a few posts above said DZ made quota. Did they make it with snap bids? It would seem that greek life would grow as the student population has grown but quota was 52 when I went through in 92 so it seems not much has changed. I wish greek life would gain some ground.

Are they using the Release Figures?
On the few campuses which I know enough to discuss, they (the Release Figures) have made all the difference in the world! Much less dropping - especially at Pref - and almost no cross cutting.

Something is just not right. If A&M isn't using the release figures, maybe this will convince them! It's our first rush with our beautiful new house - I really hope my girls are able to snap to quota pretty quickly.

Since I was initiated 100 years ago (OK, maybe not quite, but close) will someone tell me what Release Figures are, and cross cutting?

BTW, I was in College Station this past weekend and drove by the Gamma Phi Beta house. Very nice addition to student life at TAMU!

KY Gal - check out the sticky on Release Figures, etc. I know - I was confused at first too, since it is nothing like when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I went through rush!
Also, we need someone in TX to get a picture of the Gamma Phi house at A &M and post it - I'm dying to see it since it was finished!
