I really enjoyed Texas. One of my close friends now lives in Victoria.
The clouds. Beautiful there. One of my favorite prints is of a Texas sky, and got it in a thrift store near Victoria for $4.
And had a blast at the dance hall in New Brandsfuls (???? sorry, Texans, I can't spell the town), it is near San Marcos. We just listened to music most of the day, and OK, had a few beers.
And can't think of what it's called, a "boil" I think, at a restaurant on the coast, good, messy eating.

Are you talking about Gruene Hall, the oldest continually running dance hall in Texas?! Shows out there are like none other. Do you remember who you saw?

yes, it was Gruene hall. don't recall performers names, a mind freeze, here. But my friend, a native Texan, who moved back after a stay in CA, knew words to almost every song, and sang away.

And yes, it was a crawfish boil. When she suggested it, I was not really keen on idea. Crawfish? Then the server tosses crawfish, potatoes, and corn on paper, and it was a good sloppy meal. We also stopped at an artsy town on the coast, and I bought a painting from a local artist. It is on my living room. The town? small, cute.

And because I had dared her to go white water rafting in Northern Ca, and she went after almost chickening out, I was told I had to go tubing with her and some friends, near San Marcos. Another good time.

Are y'all going to share with the Alpha Gams at convention in San Antonio next summer the secret places tourists don't go? I'm planning to make a little vacation out of it, and don't want to waste my time on anything ridiculous.

I want good food and entertainment, plain and simple.

Sure! Remind us closer to your "vacation" and we'll tell you where you must go.
