Wow. Just WOW!
Some of my predictions were spot on, more were way off. But WOW.
I re-read the last 3 chapter about 3 times. So well done. And I see now what JKR was referring to when she said in an interview that when she has been asked if she believes in God and has answered "yes," she has been glad no one has pressed her further because she thought that would give too much of the ending away.

That was good, but I thought this was even funnier:

I went back and checked, and apparently that statement was from an interview in 1999, before the publication of POA. The speculation I have seen is that she was referring to Voldemort's mother, Merope Gaunt. Alternatively, it is quite possible that that's a plot point she decided to drop later on.

I think she meant that Hagrid was the one who got the reprieve, and Tonks and Lupin were the ones whom she hadn't originally planned to kill. But as soon as they made Harry Teddy's godfather, things didn't look good.

Mrs Weasley cursing at Bella during their duel I thought was funny....kinda gave me an impression of (for those that remember) Ripley facing off with the alien in the mech suit.

I thought that it was a great book overall, althought I would've liked it if she said what happened to the Dursleys and to Hermione's parents at the end.

I agree that I would have liked to know about the Dursleys.
As for Hermione's parents, I fugured she did tell us -- when Hermione was explaining about sending her parents to Australia, she talked about how she'd undo it all and they'd come home if everything turned out okay.

What I am hoping for is that this is THE END and she won't sell the intellectual properties over to someone who will create more books and spinoffs...for instance...when the Star Wars franchise was revived in the early 90s with the newe books...it was cool..but now 15 years later, they have killed off major characters and have storylines that just make me say....enough please...if anything...if Rowlings does do anymore writing..would be something like a compedium similar to what the Lord of the Rings has to kind of round out everything.
I wanna know if anyone killed at the last battle became school ghosts

I really hope she does write more stories, but as much as I love HP, I don't want her to write anymore HP adventures. She's ended the series, and I am happy with the way things ended. If this wasn't the end, then I would love for her to keep writing HP books.

As Beryana noted, the title of this thread says "Spoilers Abound," so no need to hide the spoilers.

I noted this in a post yesterday, but I went back and checked, and JKR made the statement that one person would do magic late in life an interview in 1999, before the publication of POA. She never said it would happen in the last book. I think people just assumed it would be in the last book.
The speculation I have seen is that she was referring to Voldemort's mother, Merope Gaunt, who couldn't do magic until her father and brother were gone and were no longer squelching her.
Alternatively, it is quite possible that this was a plot point she decided to drop in the 7 years between making the statement and finishing the writing.
