To answer your question, I think in my 20's I felt a great deal of pressure to "do the right things" to please my parents as well as myself while setting a successful life course. It felt like a lot of pressure--very dramatic--because I was never sure whether what I was doing was "right." I'm still constantly making choices that take me down new roads, but the anxiety of making these choices has waned because I know now that whatever choices I make, everything will ALWAYS work out just as it should and that as long as I keep living, there will be daily opportunities to make new choices and follow new roads. I guess I just don't take life quite as seriously and nothing is really that dramatic. I don't miss the drama but I could use a bit more excitement at this point in my life!
