This thread is highly entertaining, even though I'm not convinced it's real. Someone from old money with oodles of class wore hose with sequins up the back? Even in the 80s?

But I'm enjoying it, a lot more than some of the other rush threads.

Count me in on the "keep this story going" list! It is highly entertaining, even if slightly embellished .

I kind of thought she was talking about Texas and SMU (except that SMU has deferred rush), so maybe TCU. And, having gone through rush on both sides at SMU, I can tell you that much of what she says is not far from the mark. I distinctly remember the year that "Miss Teen USA" was rushing. We had a life size cut-out of her up in the chapter room (sent by her local alum club) pushing us to rush her hard. Big name rushees were not at all unusual and it was a feeding frenzy in some ways to get those girls.

(Nice Memory - Every day after rushing we looked forward to the yummy food (especially donut cakes, mmmh good) sent by the alumni clubs)

Some of the clothing she describes would not be unusual either. Yes, espadrills and mexican dresses were aplenty, but there were so many girls rushing from different parts of the country, where styles were different, that you'd see just about everything. I wore linen walking shorts and a silk safari shirt (gorgeous, wish I still had it) and flats (probably with tights) the first day. I'm sure that at some point during rush I wore hose and high heels though. I was there in the early eighties and we definitely wore hose, although tights were really more common. The fashion then was Laura Ashley dresses with tights or VERY preppy shorts/skirts with cumberbunds (Harolds) and high necked shirts that buttoned up the back. It was definitely DIFFERENT! And I don't dress like that now!! lol!

I was thinking UT and another TX private school too(smu or tcu), but TCU has always had more than 6 sororities.

But yeah, I'm not sure about the validity of this story, but keep posting!

I don't care where she goes to school just as long as she posts again sometime soon. Like I said in another thread, I am becoming addicted to these threads and always want more. I think it is to keep my mind off my upcoming recruitment (though mine will not be as competitive as this or so I believe). I believe you though.

Unless this is really recent (which I doubt it is because supposedly her & her twin now work at some firm), I just didn't understand why she doesn't want to reveal ANYTHING... time period, location, what her mother's chapter is, actual chapters at her school, etc. She didn't even have to reveal all of them, but just give us a little more detail to get an idea of where/when this was taking place.

These were the only things that keep me questioning the validity of this story. And when asked for specifics, she doesn't give an answer. Yes, she does seem to gloat about herself a lot, and everything seems too good to be true, but I thought, hey, someone out there might have what seems to be such a perfect life. Oh well.

Real or not, I agree, it does help slow days go by a lot quicker. I hope the OP will continue to post. I still want to know whatever "this thing" is.

Yes, the tone is gratingly snotty, but I'm willing to overlook that for the sheer entertainment value. even if it's false, who cares, it's a good read, and she's poured a lot of effort into writing it. so to the OP, please come back and post more, I'm still reading.

But the vision I have in my head of that panty hose with the sequins up the back...

I hadn't even thought of SVU, but wow does that bring back memories...haha, I must have read all of them.

i knew this thread was too good to be true! i took time out of my BUSY schedule for it to be borderline fake? phooey! then againi doubt the OP would write all that for it to be "fake." :shrugs shoulders:

(i'm NPHC too so i dont know how "fake" it sounds, but some parts definitely turned my stomach a bit. my brain was screaming "wow, go on and feed those stereotypes why dont cha?")

i actually feel bad for anyone who came in through a big SEC/greek oriented-type school. rush sounds over the top redonkulous and i wouldnt even be feeling it.

with that said, give us more!

I don't know where my post went, but I agreed w/ SWTX that back then you absolutely ALWAYS wore hose with heels - no matter if it was 100 degrees out. Not sequined ones, though, unless you were dressed up as Cyndi Lauper for Halloween or something.

Oh, and as a side note, I realize that going w/out hose is OK now - but if your feet or legs look like a topographical map - put the hose on, PLEASE.
