As I posted in the "Last Movie You Saw" thread, I thought Transformers was great. I love that for the most part the Transformers were the ones that you remember from the original series, without too much change (though there was a bit of melding). Optimus Prime was great; Starscream was a beast (in the scene where the airforce was flying into the city: of course I was looking for the Aerialbots to come and run check on him, but I guess that is for two.)

I agree with those that posted that this movie had all kinds of potential to fall flat, but in my mind it more than exceeded my expecations (which were really high, given that I have been waiting for this movie for about a year).

Thumbs up

It did take me back to childhood. So for that it was great, it was kinda long, and its seemed like it took forever for the Autobots and Decipticons to get their crews together. But the second half the action and visual effects were so good I forgot about the cheesy story line.

Side note, what high school was that girl in, uhm she looked like she just got off a pole. I assume thats the point though.

All in all thumbs up

I saw it Wednesday I thought it was great. I'm glad they didn't mess it up. It was so funny I laughed the whole time. The people sitting in front of me were mad they didn't play the theme song.

I have RARELY heard applause when a character comes on the screen, but it broke out when Optimus appeared and again at the end of the movie.

Bumblebee was killing it with the songs to match Sam's mood: Baby come back, Lets get it on. lol

ETA: wonderful1908: Sistergreek you are SO right. I did think she looked kind of stripperish.

I just came from seeing it and it was AWESOME!!!! I only really remember Optimist Prime because my brother played with them as a kid! I love Shia LaBeouf -- this took his acting to a whole new level in my mind.
