I heard that there were some petitions to keep Greek off the air being circled around the KD Convention last week.

wouldnt it be more "effective" if there was an NPC-wide letter/petition to say "this is wrong, please take this off air?" i dont know if all 26 orgs have an official stance, but power in numbers is the best bet here. at least i think.

My feeling is that this whole issue is something best ignored by the greek community. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.
I guarantee you -- if greek organizations circulate petitions and cause a big stir regarding this show, we run the risk of the media picking that issue up. If the media covers our objections, that'll more than likely translate into ratings for this show.
Best to just sit back and let the show die a slow, quiet death.

I can assure you that the slow death will happen if the rest of the season is anything like the pilot. Jesus...download it from itunes for the lulz.

Having actually watched the show now, I agree completely. It will be more than a waste of time to protest -- it's simply not worth it, and it just makes the protesters look stupid and risks more publicity for the show. And as a great circus master once said, there is no such thing as bad publicity.
It's a TV show, a work of fiction. Unlike that MTV schlock, it doesn't make any claims to be an accurate portayal of Greek life anywhere. Alexandra Robbins isn't the producer. It's just entertainment. I was in college when Animal House came out. While it certainly spawned renewed interest in toga parties, anybody with half a brain understood that it was just a movie, not a documentary, and not to be taken too seriously.
And okay, I'll admit it -- I laughed much more than I thought I would. Not just at the crazy inaccuracies -- I nearly spit my drink out when the main character spouted that all-but-3-presidents-since-1825 garbage. Yes, there were way too many Animal House rips, but still, it had some very funny moments.

Personally, I liked the Dale, the roommate:
Look, you came to college to have some fun,
and join a fraternity,
and sin in the eyes of God.

I love Calvin "Rosenberg" Owens and Cappy!!!
I'm liking this show way more than I should.

I loved the show hahaha I was offended at the beginning with the rush workshop but after it got past that it was hilarious. Dale rocks my world lol. And any PNM that is stupid enough to let some sitcom influence their decision isnt someone you want as a brother or a sister anyway...you dont need people that moronic in your house.

i loved it in a guilty pleasure kind of way. sadly, this is kind of what i thought greek life was like before i wen to college. overall, it was silly and not real, and hopefully people will get that. a lot of it seemed to be over-cheesed for the cameras anyway!

I finally got to watch it on DVR and I have to agree.
I could have done without the cheesy dialogue here and there, but it wasn't the trainwreck I thought it was going to be.
It's satire and a work of fiction. I doubt it'll spell the end of Greek Life altogether.
